Don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet, butt he scene where Wardaddy forces Machine to blast the nazi with the revolver isn't actually supposed to be a deep take on morality. Right before the whole business starts one of the infantry guys asks the kraut where he got the US Army issued coat. At that stage in the war, anyone caught wearing the opposing forces uniform was considered a spy, and therefore not afforded being a POW, and a spy could be killed on site. So that kraut fucked up royally.

It's funny how you look back at things you thought were like a documentary but come to find out it's not realistic at all. I think my "Hurt Locker" is actually a movie called "Basic" starring Samuel L. Jackson. I watched it once when I was younger and was actually a real inspiration to be an MP. Today, I think an MP isn't the MOS for me, just because the fantasy of what an MP is so contrary to what it really actually is. I never joined the military, so what do you guys think? 😅

The way i understood the black out scene was, he cuts the lights and fires a shot to kill one and scare the rest into firing their weapons, and since the lights are off and these "gangsters" werent properly trained for fire fight situations, basically just dropped each other while punisher hid, then the lights cut back on leaving a 1v1 against the head guy for the punisher

I came here because I saw a clip on facebook. I was intrigued, but not enough to watch the film, so I read the plot in Wikipedia. I'm not even military, and everything they did in this movie pissed me off, so I came looking for some sort of review by actual military personnel. You guys did not disappoint. I'm glad to know that I was not tripping, lol.

While I know it's true that the military in general does promote some problem officers away, in this case, it was the right decision for Sobel. He was great at training, terrible in the field. Sending him off to train at the school was the absolute right choice for him and for the Army.

I fucking loved this movie. Maybe because it kinda felt like I was in this shit without really being in it. But what I found so fascinating about this movie was the sociological aspect! 😃 The culture of the crew, the culture of the police, all of the conflict, internal and external. And the sheer display of covert influence, did anyone catch any hint of who the mastermind truly was until it was actually revealed??? 😮 P.S. that fucking beautiful mustang drift scene!!!!!!! 😮😮😍 And also the way you trash talk Gerard Butler's character is eye-opening 🤯

Thanks so much for the added context about the circumstances and AO of Operation Redwing, I went and watched the movie again. I think better solutions offered would've been to 1. Make the contingents hike up the mountain with the platoon until comms was restablished, then release them later at a strategic location to protect the location of the LZ. 2. Have someone keep watch while the team splits up and confrims exfil, then reconvene at last checkpoint. But I like Plan 1 way better because why split the group unless it was absolutely necessary? It's really funny and entertaining, but between the lines, after finishing the series, I found that there was an actual real underlying ethical dilemma. I don't disagree with everything he says and posts, but he acts like he's perfect, does no wrong, all seals are bad all green berets are perfect and is the best operator etc. That's the only irritating thing about his content.

i just found this site, i ike these guys, i was with one of the groups amd i hate when i see people talking crud about each other, what id like to see, what id like to get from folks loike these guys, is a discussion about industrialized war and not fob work, the next war will be industrialized and and we do not have men like these talking, i use to mentor, but there is nothing left to mentor for my group, when youn got guys going after a guy like eddie gallagher, well, lets face it, we are at end of empire, and guys like the ones above are few and far between

Our platoon worked with a team from 3rd group in Afghanistan as well as Navy SEALs. We worked with the SEALs for a 3 day mission, but were stationed on a SF base for about six months. They were extremely humble and willing to teach us and let us use their high speed gear. They were never arrogant. I gained even more respect for them when we worked side by side with them. True professionals and always humble.
